Public Relations and The Ballet

Hi All

Thought you might find it interesting to hear from two very experienced ladies who do the Public Relations for Gaspar Ballet. It is an aspect of the ballet that is very important. Without PR you would never get your Artistic product to market. So with that in mind I ask Theresa Richardson and Elizabeth Price to be my Guest Blogger’s for this installment. Enjoy what they had to say below.

‘Tis the Season for a Media Partner!

As we sat down to look at the press clippings and great reviews from last year’s Gaspar Ballet, we wondered how we could improve on our efforts.  We had lots of newspaper, TV, radio and online coverage.   So we asked,

” Why not go to the largest media company in our area and invite them to be our media partner?”  Maybe they would be convinced that this charity ballet is valuable to our area.  Maybe they would see that Gaspar raised $60,000 for three special charities in its first year.

So, like the pirates we represent, we armed ourselves with fact sheets, Gaspar Ballet custom beads and Gaspar music CD’s and photos.  We practiced our pitch several times in the car and in the TV station lobby, reviewing our plan of attack. We crossed our fingers and went in to the meeting.   In 20 minutes,  we had an agreement to have Florida Communications Group (FCG) act as our official media partner.   (Applause!)

This means the Tampa Tribune,  WFLA-8 (NBC- TV) & TBO.com  (news/advertising website) will help us get the word out to more than 3 million people in the Tampa Bay Area.    Yo-ho-ho and a BIG bottle of something….

So, a big hearty pirate hug and an ever louder pirate shout out to our Media Partner FCG and reps Matt Larson and Jon Hoegstrom who helped us sail right on through.
